Early Career:
Katie’s dedication to public service began at age 18 when she joined the Air Force ROTC during the height of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. After completing law school as valedictorian, she served as an Air Force Officer and Judge Advocate during America’s War on Terrorism. Her military service laid the foundation for her expertise in Constitutional law, criminal justice, and complex federal litigation.
Katie began her career as a JAG officer, handling a diverse caseload including sexual assault, national defense document/classified record crimes, violent crimes, complex drug offenses, complex government contracting, and a wide array of military and governmental administrative actions. Her reputation for excellence in litigation was established early, being identified as the best JAG prosecutor in her office in Dover, Delaware despite being the most junior in rank.
